Why Startups?

Startups are a key economic pillar today. The global startup economy stood at USD 3 trillion as of 2020. India has become the world’s third largest startup ecosystem. Indian startups are already disrupting the country’s economy in a positive way. Critical sectors like HealthTech, Fintech, EdTech and cleantech have created new business models, generated new employment and connected new customers - ensuring social parity along the way. Many believe that startups will fuel India’s forward march to becoming a $5 trillion economy.

Startups facilitate innovation, solve social problems, generate employment, open new markets and create wealth by means of harnessing the intelligence capital of India. That is why Government of India had put its focus on startup sector. Launched on 16 January 2016, the Startup India Initiative has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs, building a robust startup ecosystem and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers.

Arunachal Pradesh, as a State, has seen increasing activity in sectors such as Information Technology (IT), education, tourism, hospitality and agriculture in the last decade. Along with this there is growing recognition of the importance of innovation and enterprise for solving problems. Today, Arunachal Pradesh’s youth is motivated to explore its entrepreneurial capability to design environmentally and socially conscious business models to address the key challenges faced by the State.

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh believes that holistic and robust support to the startup ecosystem will leverage the growing interest of the youth in entrepreneurship and support them in innovating on a large-scale to generate positive macro level impact and employment in the State.

The Startup Arunachal web portal aims to facilitate the budding entrepreneurs in the State by creating a digital ecosystem that will act as a one-stop solution for all startup related activities.
